Pig And Olive, Westward Ho!

Tucked away on the edge of the North Devon coastline, Pig And Olive, Westward Ho! is one of those gems that locals whisper about and visitors stumble upon with delight. Located at 1 Pebbleridge Rd, Westward Ho!, Bideford EX39 1HN, this laid-back spot offers more than just killer views - it serves up some of the best handcrafted pizza you’ll find in the area.

From the moment you walk in, there’s a real sense of relaxed coastal charm. With outdoor seating available, it's the kind of place where you can enjoy your slice with the sea breeze in your hair and a pint of North Coast IPA in hand. Inside, the vibe stays easy-going, perfect for everything from a quick solo lunch break to a cozy dinner with mates.

Let’s talk pizza, because that’s where Pig And Olive truly shines. Their Salami and Hot Honey Pizza hits all the right notes - sweet, spicy, savoury - it’s bold, well-balanced, and far from your average slice. If you’re after something meaty, the All the Meat Pizza does not hold back. Stacked with layers of flavour, it’s a carnivore’s dream on a perfectly crisp base.

But maybe you’re in the mood for something a little different. The Pulled Pork and Black Olive Pizza stands out for its clever pairing of smoky richness and briny depth, while the Crema Di Zucca and Nduja Pizza blends creamy squash with fiery sausage in a way that’s just next-level. And for the truffle lovers? The Black Truffle Pizza is earthy, luxurious, and absolutely worth every bite.

Vegetarians and vegans will feel just as spoiled here. With dedicated vegan dishes and vegetarian options woven into the menu, there’s something for everyone. The Mushroom and Spinach Pizza with Ham is a standout, offering an umami-rich mix that’s both hearty and fresh. The Margherita Pizza, though classic, delivers on flavour with its fresh tomato base and gooey mozzarella.

Beyond pizza, there are smaller bites worth exploring. The Garlic Bread with Sea Salt is a simple but essential starter - crispy on the edges, pillowy in the middle, and loaded with garlic butter. Craving something sweet after all that? Try the Banoffee Pizza - it's dessert disguised as dinner, and it’s ridiculously good.

Drink-wise, you’re covered from cherry cider to coffee, with free water refills available too. The menu includes a thoughtful selection of wine, beer, and spirits, so you can pair your pizza however you like. Whether you're dining in or ordering a no-contact delivery, the quality stays consistent.

Accessibility-wise, Pig And Olive ensures that everyone can enjoy the experience, with both a wheelchair-accessible entrance and car park. That inclusivity carries through the whole operation, from the friendly service to the welcoming atmosphere. It's also popular for lunch and dinner, and perfect for solo dining if you're just in need of a quiet moment with your pizza and your thoughts.

On the logistics side, they’ve nailed the modern diner’s expectations - takeaway, dine-in, and delivery are all available. There’s even brunch if you're swinging by earlier in the day. And whether you're after a quick bite, a late-night food fix, or looking for small plates to share, their offerings tick all the boxes.

What sets Pig And Olive, Westward Ho! apart isn’t just the food - it’s the full package: the thoughtful menu, the welcoming environment, and that unbeatable seaside setting. There’s an authenticity here that’s hard to fake, and it shows in every hot, cheesy, wood-fired bite.

We were down for a wedding and stopped here on our first evening. The pizza we had was absolutely stunning, two of the best pizzas we have ever had. The dough was lovely, great authentic feel, and the biodegradable plates the pizzas came on are a fantastic touch. Well worth a visit for anyone who enjoys pizza. If you are after a standard pizza takeaway with rubbish ingredients and over topped pizzas that oooze grease, this place isn't for you. If you like genuine authentic pizza, with great flavour, it will be.

Beautiful food Simple concept perfectly executed of really great food, laid back, comfortable dining, dog friendly making it a perfect stop for anyone pecking strolling off the beach. The pizzas were incredible. The only thing that could have made it better for us was maybe some extra choices on the sides like fries or wedges, maybe some chicken, possibly a couple of kids options to help keep cost down a little.. but having said I understand you're probably just keeping it simple and killin' it with the pizzas

Really nice place by the beach in westward ho. Not massively familiar with Devon but it was one of the few places that had a eclectic choice of beers. The service was very good and the food was brilliant, I thought it was reasonably priced and wouldn't hesitate in recommending to anyone.
